Pupil Leadership

At St Martin’s CE Primary School, we believe that every child has the potential to become a leader. Our leadership opportunities develop confident and responsible pupils who contribute actively to school life while demonstrating our values of Community, Aspiration and Courage.

Through leadership roles, pupils learn to express their views, listen to others, work collaboratively and make a positive contribution to our school. These opportunities also support pupils’ understanding of the British Values of democracy, individual liberty, mutual respect and the rule of law, helping them recognise how their decisions and actions can make a difference.

Our leadership opportunities include Pupil Parliament, where children are democratically elected to represent their peers and work through different ministries under the leadership of a Pupil Prime Minister and Deputy Prime Minister. House Captains help lead house activities, encourage teamwork and strengthen relationships across the school. Prefects take on responsibilities that support the day-to-day life of St Martin’s and act as positive role models for younger pupils. Our pupil Referees help to officiate football games during breaktimes, promoting fairness, cooperation and respect for agreed rules.

These roles give pupils the courage to express their ideas and take on new responsibilities. They strengthen our community by encouraging children to work together and serve others, while raising pupils’ aspiration by showing them that their voices, choices and actions can bring about positive change.
