Year 3 - Eagle Class

Our lovely Year 3 class is named after Poland's national animal, the Eagle.

Eagle Class is led by Mrs Podraza.
Check back here every couple of weeks for updates about the class and their learning.

Welcome to Autumn Term!

Eagles have settled in extremely well – the children have been working really hard from day 1 and their readiness to learn and good behaviour has been exceptional.

This term we will cover the following:

Maths – Place Value, followed by addition/subtraction and multiplication. You can support your child’s learning by practising Times Tables – the children seem to have hugely enjoyed Times Tables Rock Stars.

English

· Reading Workshops will focus on a range of books, which Year 3’s have thoroughly enjoyed, our first workshop was on Beegu – an amazing story about acceptance/belonging. We will also cover The Night Flower, The Street Beneath my Feet and Quest.

· Writing – we will establish Genre, Audience and Purpose of each piece of writing produced. This should make the concept of writing have more sense. This term, we are working with The Blue Umbrella (a short Pixar clip) and The Battle of Bubble and Squeak.

Science – The children will identify key bones and explore how muscle changes result in movement. Then we will learn about how the body uses energy, what makes a balanced diet and how research contributes to nutritionist expertise.

Geography – all about settlements. (Cities, towns, villages etc)

DT – Eating seasonally - you can also explore where different food comes from in context of your favourite meals.

Music - compositions in response to an animation (Theme: Mountains)

PSHE - Family and relationships

ICT - Networks and the Internet Google + Online safety

PE- Fundamentals and Yoga

You are more than welcome to leave children’s PE kits at school throughout the term. They will be sent back home half termly, unless in need of wash earlier. PE days are Wednesdays and Thursdays.

I am extremely happy to be part of your child’s learning journey. Together, we can make a real difference!
